LOTS OF STUFF GOING ON

By
Gypsy Rhapsody
(a vintage Airstream with lots of stuff going on with her owners, Vannie and Dave)

Yep...
Lots of Stuff going on...
Vannie and Dave have been seeing lots of friends
while in Lafayette, LA.
They have been eating out...
playing cards with friends...
hosting wedding showers...
celebrating birthdays...
spending the day in NOLA...
traveling to Farmerville,LA to help clean out Dave's mom's house...
meeting friends in Ruston, LA for an anniversary lunch...
traveling to Houston for Dave to have a laser procedure on his right eye...
and more...

I have been parked in Youngsville, LA
at the corner of Church St and 2nd St.
It is a perfect place...
right in the middle of downtown Youngsville.
While V and D have been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off,
I've been hanging out...relaxing...enjoying the heck out of my spot.

Here I am...just sittin' purdy.!!!

Down my street I could smell these lovely gardenias...

...and enjoy the sight of this beautiful mimosa...

...and felt the presence of these gorgeous hibiscus...

...and was joyful with the nearness of these magnolia blossoms...

...and glowed with the brilliant blue of these morning glories...
Did I say I loved my spot?

Vannie and Dave were excited to get to watch grandson, Cooper,
perform in a concert.  He was the star saxophone player...according to V and D.

May 13...Cooper's 11th Birthday

I can tell by this photo it was a fun and a yummy celebration.

Cooper's favorite place to celebrate is the Chinese Buffet.
Sushi, pork/chicken/beef-based dishes, dumplings,
soups, noodles, fried rice, stir-fried dishes, shrimp, crabs,
mussels, and more

T-Pop said this gift (a paintball gun) was the "hit" of the party.

Oops...until Ashley had to get out the water hose to wash paint off the house.

...and then there was the day they went to New Orleans...

...and, of course, Cafe du Monde...
The cafe has been at its present location since 1862.
Dat's a long time, Cher.
Decatur Street in the French Quarter...

The beignets and cafe au lait with chicory
are to die for.  Get this treat under your belt before
anything else.  The sugar and the coffee will keep
you going for hours.

I think Cooper is "feelin' the love."

Vannie took this cool "reflection" photo while walking down the street in NOLA.

Toy Store number 2
Cooper knows all the fun places to shop in NOLA.

Cooper looks like he is beatin' the pants off Vannie
during this game of checkers at the Cracker Barrel on the way home from NOLA.

Dave's brother and his wife...
Roger and Judy
This picture was taken in front of Roger and Judy's house in Choudrant, LA.
They all ate supper at R and J's house one evening after working
on cleaning out Pearl's house in Farmerville, LA.
Pearl is Roger and Dave's mom that passed away in February.
It was a busy two days, but they got a lot done.

On the way back to Lafayette, V and D met up with
their good friends, Claudia and Orville Steen.
They had a great lunch in Ruston, LA at Newk's Restaurant.

Here's that shower I told you about earlier.
Martina Mills is a former student of Vannie's.
She is getting married in June in Washington, D.C.
Vannie helped with a shower for her in Laffy.
Fun, Friends, and Food, of course.!!!

,,,more friends...

...more food...

...can't leave town without a little boudin...
Boudin is Cajun sausage made with
meat, rice, and veggies in a casing.
Vannie likes to eat it "on the go".

...does it ever stop...

...and our last celebration before heading to New Mexico...
Ashley, Diane, Cooper, V and D, and Me

...enjoying our supper...
AND
watching our 11 year old put on a show...
...being silly...

...and sillier...

...and silliest...
Vannie said that this was his "Madge Burns" routine.
Madge Burns was Vannie's mom...and she was quite a character.

Bye...Bye...Laffy and all our friends...
It was a fun time.
See ya when we see ya...

NEW YORK...NEW YORK

By
Gypsy Rhapsody
(Vintage Airstream...1977...bumming around with my owners, Vannie and Dave)

Vannie and Dave are both going to be 70 this summer.
And guess what????
Their kids decided it would be the best present EVER to
give them a trip to New York City....
and they would go with them.

There was some excitement around these parts, for sure.
I don't think anybody slept a wink after "the cat was out of the bag"...
until they boarded the plane and landed in the Big Apple.

Of course, I stayed behind in Youngsville.
Just a mite too big to get on a plane.

Grandson, Cooper...first plane ride
Ashley, Diane, Cooper flew out of NOLA...
Emilie, Vannie, Dave flew out of Austin, TX.
"Start spreading the news
They are leaving today
They want to be a part of it
New York, New York"

Vannie said New York didn't know what hit it.
The Harris's were on the streets as soon as they touched down.

Goofing around with daughter, Emilie

Shootin' the Bull

"Those Harris'
are longing to stray
right through the heart of it
New York, New York"

Enjoying breakfast in a little garden across from Madison Square Garden.

"They wanted to wake up in a city
That doesn't sleep
And find that they are kings of the hill
Top of the heap"

Dave said "Finding Neverland" was fabulous.
Seeing a play on Broadway needs to be on everybody's bucket list.

Hittin' the streets again

Can't go to New York without
eating a New York bagel...

Looks like V and D are enjoying the heck out of their's...

Empire State Building

Vannie said she was trying to get this guy to smile for the camera...
But he didn't want to smile...
In fact he said..."Move on, Lady, you are holding up the line."
...Yankee...!!!

"Those little town blues
Are melting away
We'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York"
Dave said it was a beautiful time to be in the city.

Emilie is getting just the right shot of the "Flat Iron Building".

Tulips were everywhere...

V and D said that exploring the city with the fam
was wonderful...What a Birthday.!!!!

The 9-11 Memorial

Freedom Tower
A Must See

Skyline from Battery Park

The Lady

V said...Finally, a place to sit..

How many Harris' does it take to figure out the subway system?

Looks like they made it on.

Central Park Picnic

Photo Bomb.!!!

School of Rock
Vannie said it was a great play...
For the whole family.

Out on the town after the play

Dang...do they ever stop???

Natural History Museum
Perfect for a cold rainy Sunday in New York

Ash and Em soaking it in...

Vannie said that there was something special about this group.
She just quite couldn't put her finger on it.

That big body
and the teeny weeny head...hmmmmm

Ashley and Cooper and Diane enjoyed seeing
every little nook and crannie in the museum.
The whole group spent 4/5 hours here.
There was just enough gift shops strategically
placed on every floor to keep them from getting bored.
Those museum gift shops are the BEST.

Can you see Dave?
That was a window in the museum.
Vannie said she thinks he was still
trying to figure out how the kids pulled this one off.

Vannie and Em decided to get in one more play...
The Book of Mormons...
Standing tickets for $27...What a deal.!!!

Breakfast at the Cosmic Diner before it was time
to fly to Lafayette and Austin
and get back to the real world.

A Trip of a Lifetime

"And if we can make it there
We can make it anywhere
It's up to us...
New York New York"
