NASHVILLE AND NATCHEZ TRACE AND NOVEMBER

 By

Minuet in G (MinnieG)

(a 1969 Argosy (made by Airstream) that is having the time of her life)

We are in Louisiana, but it looks like I need

to "crawfish" a little.  That is what

Louisiana folks say when they need to back-up a mite.

After Washington, D.C. we headed to Nashville, TN

to check on Vannie's cousin's, Janie and Bill Colvin.

On the road again...

We continued to see beautiful fall leaves.

Such a treat!!!

The Colvin's were the perfect hosts.

Janie Burns Colvin is Vannie's first cousin on her dad's side.

Vannie and Dave had never been to Nashville.

We were only that a short time, but, as usual,

packed in the activities.

Out to eat, toured the city, and lots of visiting...

Downtown Nashville

Who knew???
Nashville has it's own Parthenon.
It is located in Centennial Park. The building is
a full-scale replica of the one in Greece.
It was built for the celebration of the 100th year of
statehood.  Nashville, nicknamed "Athens of the South",
built the replica as part of the 100th celebration.

Bye Bye, Bill and Janie...till be meet again!

Heading out of Nashville...
Where is that Natchez Trace?
I know it is around here somewhere.
Come on, GPS lady, lead is on.

Ahhhh...Found it!!!
Don't you just love this photo!
There I am, peeking around the corner on the right.

Vannie and Dave loved the Trace.
It was slow and peaceful.
No traffic...Trees...Good roads...Dappled light

...and Water Falls

...and moss covered steps

...and floating leaves

...and Indians Mounds

There are several mounds along the trace.
Bear Creek Mound
(900 year old mound)
Emerald Mound
(second largest in America)
...just to name a few...

...and a grave marker for Meriwether Lewis...
It was built in 1848.
A feature of the monument is the broken shaft.
This was a common custom in the 1800's.
It represented a life cut short by an untimely death.

A shop for lunch at The Council House Restaurant.
The food was delicious.
It is located in the French Camp Historic Village.

Sunset on our overnight stop along the Trace

Last stop before Louisiana
Weslyn and Buddy Pharis at the Cracker Barrel in Jackson, MS
Weslyn is Vannie's first cousin on her mom's side.

We are almost back to where we started in September.
Lots of beautiful and interesting sites...
Airstream Friends...
Cousins...

A Bounty of Blessings!!!
