COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO

By
Mr. Rudy Rooster  and Mr. Randy Rooster
(We are the guest writers for this blog today. We wanted our side of the story to be told.)

Rudy:  Wow, can you believe???  We are bloggers.  Cock-a-doodle-doo!

Randy:  HELLO!!  We are on the road to being the most famous roosters on the web.  We have been living right around the corner from Minnie G, Vannie, and Dave.

Rudy:  Who knew???  I am so glad I hit it off with this Minnie G character.  She was more than happy to let us spill our guts on her blog.  I think she was just ready for a break.  She said it has been difficult to settle down and write.  Vannie left every morning for her subbing job, and Dave was hanging around watching Perry Mason or working on some part of her.  She said she could not concentrate when someone was being murdered on TV, or Dave was patching something under her belly, or he was working on her new water tank, or fixing Vannie's bed so it would not slope down on one side.  The list could go on and on.

Randy:  I'm with you on this, Rudy.  Let's get busy writing.  Finally our chance for the big time.  People think that all we do is strut around singng..."Cock-a-doodle-do".  We know some stuff, and we are ready to shout it to the rafters.

Rudy:  "This is Us."

Randy:  Isn't this a name of a very popular TV series.  "This Is Us"...OMG it's happening...I can already see my name in lights.

Rudy:  RUDY...RANDY...I'm geting the vapors.!!!

Rudy:  OK...Just got to get this off my heart.

Randy:  I think you mean"chest".  Don't say the word "heart".  I can hardly say that word without thinking of what Vannie did during one of her subbing lessons.  How could she?  It makes me quiver all over just thinking about it.
Minnie G spilled the beans one morning while we were strutting around.  Dave had gone for a walk, and Minnie just let it out.

Randy:  It seems that Vannie dissected a sheep's heart one morning with her students.

Randy:   It was a very involved lesson that included knowing all the parts of the heart as well as their functions.  Minnie G overheard her talking about it with Dave.

Randy:  That part wasn't so bad, but THEN...Vannie had this bright idea to let the students dissect chicken hearts and then cook and EAT THEM.  I was appalled and sickened at the very idea of taking "our people's hearts"...mutilating them and, heaven forbid, eating them.

Rudy:  This is beyond my comprehension.  But Minnie G said that it was true.  She even had the pictures to prove it.

Randy:  I don't know if I can get beyond this.  It breaks my heart to know that this is actually going on in this world.  Vannie was able to order 5 pounds of chicken hearts from Adrian's Grocery Store in Lafayette. 5 pounds!!!  And there is only one heart per chicken.  Goodness Gracious...I have no more words.!!!

Rudy:  I think we need to move on to a more positive subject.  This is giving me palpitations.

Randy:  Minnie G said that Vannie would come home so excited about lessons involving icons.  It seems her students will be going on a field trip to San Antonio in the spring and will be touring the McNay Art Museum.  The McNay has a religious art exhibit...so Vannie decided to try icons with the students.

Rudy:  Vannie lightened up the lesson when she talked about "patron saints".  There is a patron saint for many many things.  So the students were asked to collect labels of drinks or food that they were passionate about.

The Patron Saint of Bubble Gum

The Patron Saint of Dove Chocolates

The Patron Saint of Arizona Green Tea

...and this is Vannie's...
The Patron Saint of Tea Drinkers

Randy:  Collections included candy wrappers, water bottle wrappers, soft drink wrappers.  Vannie said not a single broccoli or cauliflower or Brussels sprouts wrapper was brought in.  I love these.  They are so much fun.  I think the subbing job was a huge success for Vannie.

Rudy:  On another "note"...no pun intended...Vannie and Dave were blessed a second time by getting to experience Chorale Acadianne Choir at St. Anthony"s church in Lafayette.  They said it was delightful.

Chorale Acadianne Choir

Randy:  AND...the Centenary Choir from Shreveport performed, also.  These were students that attended Centenary College.  Such fresh sweet faces and voice like angels.  Sure wish we had been invited.  We could have slipped in a "cock-a-doodle-doo" to liven things up.

Rudy:  I have a cousin the lives near that church, and he said that no chickens are allowed inside the church.  This rule is sooo out-of-date.

Randy:  I peeked in Minnie G's door the other day, and spotted this scene.  I asked Minnie about it, and she said that adorable little pillow arrived in the mail for V and D.  It was their BFF, Carole Ann.  She had made it with her own two hands.

Rudy:  I love it...and it fits perfectly under the New Mexico angels and the smashed Texas Peace Tea can that V and D found on one of their morning walks and next to the "LOVE" sign and the mini camper night light, and the grandkid's pics.

Randy:  And...speaking of grandkids...V and D and Ashley, Diane, and Cooper headed to Austin, Tx Friday to spend an early Thanksgiving and little bit of Christmas with Emilie, Roy, Vincent, and Maddie.

Rudy: Vannie said it was a beautiful weekend.  The new boardwalk along Lady Bird Lake is gorgeous.

Randy:  Looks like Emilie and Vincent are posting for an Austin Magazine Cover.

Rudy:  A skate boarder, a bike rider, and a beauty queen...
and the people that love them.

Randy:  Dave said that these 4 had an awesome "grown-up" evening.

Randy:  And guess who got to spoil the grandkids...Yep...V and D.

Rudy:  ...and then the next day...Christmas happened...

Rudy:  Friends, Audra and Jett, helped Maddie decorate the tree.

Randy:  Emilie, with help from Vannie, Diane, and friend, Brooke,  created a spectacular window with paper snowflakes.

Rudy:  Vincent seems to be taking a break...waiting to open some present.

Randy:  Maddie is so excited about her new backpack.

Rudy:  ...and then Thanksgiving happened.
So glad "turkey" was on the menu.  Ashley is the official carver.

Rudy:  Looks like everybody was getting in the action.

Randy:  I think this picture says it all...
"Happy Thanksgiving"
and
"Merry Christmas"

Rudy:  Guess we need to wrap up this blog.  It's been so much fun getting all this off our hearts (oops, I mean chest).

Randy:  Yes, I feel a hundred percent better.

Rudy:  psst...can you keep a secret?

Randy:  Sure...what's up?

Rudy:  Well, Minnie G told me not to tell a soul, but I have to tell you.

Randy:  What???  Let it out...

Rudy:  OK...This is V and D"s 50th anniversary year...sooo, they are going on a Viking cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean...NEXT WEEK.   Now, that's something to CROW about.

Rudy and Randy:  Cock-a-doodle-doo
