MINNIE G IN LAFAYETTE

By
Minuet in G
(a 1979 Argosy made by Airstream.  Minnie G is the newest member of
Vannie, Dave, and Gypsy Rhapsody's family.)

Hello, Folks, I am so excited about my adoption into my new family.
Gypsy decided to let me experience the "joy of the journey" with Vannie and Dave.
She is having the time of her life in Hillsboro, TX at the North Texas Airstream Community.
So many nice people and airsteams...She certainly will not be lonely.

We have a great spot in Youngsville, LA.
Youngsville is growing community south of Lafayette.
Gypsy had told me all about this area,
so I was really looking forward to seeing it myself.
We are right off church street in the downtown area.

Right after arriving in Lafayette, Vannie started
substitute teaching at Paul Breaux Middle School.
She is subbing in the gifted enrichment program.
She has been retired for several years, but likes
getting back into the teaching mode if she has a chance.

One of Vannie's students just happens to be
the son of a good friend that was
a cheerleader at Lafayette High School
with V and D's daughter, Emilie.
Small world...

I just have to share some great little projects
Dave has completed after Vannie leaves for work.
(He said he loves being the "house boy".)
This shows the cute little shelf he installed above the back windows.
He also hung back up the original curtains after washing.
They amazingly stayed all in one piece.  Must be made out of some strong stuff.
Notice Vannie's ukelele on the left and
Dave's Native American flute on the right...
I'm already hearing...
music in the morning...
music in the evening...
and
music at suppertime...

Check out these new pots and pans...
My burners work, and my oven works...
so I am expecting some cooking to be going on.
Vannie did fix stuffed mirlitons (pronounced mella-ton).
Mirlitons are fruit, but taste more like a squash.
They grow on a vine in the area.

On my goodness...
My new little microwave is adorable.

Notice the sting curtain in front of the bathroom
and the cabinet above the pottie has a new mirror.

...and Dave and I have this waiting for Vannie
when she gets home from work.
This arrangement is working for all concerned.!

Grandson Cooper has been for a visit.

The orange trees in Lafayette are bursting with oranges.

Cooper was a huge help in picking.
He could actually get up in the tree.
These are the juiciest, sweetest oranges imaginable.
Vannie said the juice runs down your arm and
drips off your elbow...YUM...

We had a delightful late Christmas celebration
with V and D's son, Ashley, and family
after arriving in Lafayette on December 30th.

I think Cooper loved his new Nerf gun.

Daughter-in-law, Diane's Split Pea Soup
THE BEST

So I guess you can say
we are all fitting into Lafayette
just dandy....
people...food...work...

I've only been here a couple of weeks,
and I love it already.
