PEARL

By
Gypsy Rhapsody

Pretty as a peach
Energetic
Artistic
Radiant
Lots of friends

Pearl, David's mom, headed up to heaven on February 3, 2016.
She was such a special lady of 97 years.
She lived a full life.  She died at home in her own bed and had all her own teeth.

David shared a special list of accomplishes with me,
and I think she would love for me to share them with you.

(Pearl's 97th birthday...October 29, 2015)

...had one of her poems published in The Pine Knot (La Tech) in 1926.
...made David"s  and his brother, Roger's clothes when they were little boys.

(Getting pedicure by her friend, Mary Ann, in late December, 2015)

...put on makeup every day of her life.
...always washed her face at the end of the day and applied expensive creams.
...enjoyed dressing up with necklace and earrings every day.
...always matched from head to toe.

(Pearl taking care of business...January 2016)

...took care of her banking up until this last year.
...drove her car until 2014.
...bought her first pair of "bling" jeans last year.

(Pearl and husband, Caldwell...1942)

...worked in El Dorado, AR at Lion Oil Company during WWII.
...had many adventures in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida trying to be with Caldwell during the war.

(Pearl and Caldwell...1960's)

...enjoyed going on family vacations to the beach.
...would sit under the beach umbrella the whole time and get brown as a gingercake.

(Pearl picking buttercups on the Harris property in Bernice.)

..."Nature" could have been her middle name.  She loved everything about it.
...actual middle name was "Irene".

(Pearl tea party...Christmas 2014)

...made the best "lizzies" for miles around...bottom right in picture.
...always had a little whiskey (way back in the back of the pantry) on hand to add to the lizzie dough.

...her "trash" outshines the best that is on the market...in the red container to the left in the picture.
...had dishes to match every occasion.

(Cousin, Sue Ellen...Pearl...Dave...Christmas 2013)

...her Chocolate Pie could make a grown man weep.

(Pearl...Christmas 2014)

...had 35 Christmas sweaters.
...if she couldn't find one like she wanted, she would make her own...like the one in the picture above.

(This past Christmas Pearl was surprised by her friends from Brookshire Pharmacy with a red teddie...big story to go with this, and she loved to tell it.)

...had 50 pair of pajamas in every color.

Pearl...we are going to miss you.
It's nice to know you are free of worry and pain.

Have a big group hug with Jesus and Caldwell.

  1. This is one of very favorite musings, Gypsy. Perhaps because I knew Miss Pearl when I was a little girl. She was there with me at the beginning of me. I am so glad you helped us know who Miss Pearl truly was. I hope to be half the dear lady she was....she loved life. Thank you!!! xoxo
