BOYS BONDING IN BIG BEND

By
Minuet in G
(a 1979 Argosy...made by Airstream... enjoying being the only girl on the boys trip to Big Bend, Texas)

Dave, son-in-law Roy, grandson Vincent packed me up with instant
soup, mac and cheese, luncheon meat, a loaf of bread and headed down to south Texas
to a place called Big Bend.  Dave had taken a boys trip with son Ashley and grandson Cooper
several years ago and wanted to introduce Roy and Vincent to the wonderful world of Big Bend.

The fun started early.
You can see me peaking in the back window.
Just makin' sure I didn't miss anything.

Our first stop was Junction, Texas on I10.
I love this picture.  It's me and my long lost cousin.
Yep, that's got to be ole Betsy from the 1800's.
I need to get Vannie down here and "purty" her up with some flowers.

Roy and Vincent loved the cool afternoon air
and even got in some tree climbing.

What a discovery!!!
A bonafide ghost town...
LaJitas ghost town in Terlingua, TX
We were staying in Terlingua, so the stop at this ghost town was a must.
The small church was still standing...

...and it looks like it is still used on occasion.

The Jail
Dave said this reminded him of the old jail in Bernice, LA.

Keep on Rolling...
A short stop at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, TX

We all needed a little cooling off.

Finally made it to Big Bend's Visitor Center...
Yay.!!!

Hooked up at a campground in Terlingua, TX
Time to put down the beds and climb in....
going to be a big day tomorrow.

Back packs loaded with snacks...
Hiking sticks ready...
Walking shoes on...
Let's Go.!!!

Can you believe anything could grow in this soil???
It is amazing how plants adapt to wherever they are.

Strawberry Cactus

Prickly Pear Cactus
Looks like a little bird made this one its home...

Another day...so much to see.

The Rio Grande River

What is this T-Pop?
Did you build a sand castle?

Partners...

Close your mouth T-Pop...

Boys will be boys...
and that is NOT a fishing pole...
if you get my drift.

Vincent...hold on...don't fall...
(Dave said that he thought he had seen Roy do this same thing before...
like father like son.)

Just a great day to be on a hike.

Can you find Vincent?...Right in the middle of the picture.
Don't want you to miss those muscles...

Sunrise on Easter Sunday

Roy and Vincent waaaay up high
getting in one last adventure before heading home.

Rollin' back into the neighborhood...
Feelin' wonderful after such a grand adventure.!!!

Just me and the boys!!!!

Feelin' Blessed.!!!
