 By

Minuet in G

(a 1979 Argosy made by Airstream that is doing a little "crawfishing"...

that's South Louisiana talk for backing up)

Vannie and Dave were busy with NTAC (North Texas Airstream Community)

activities before they headed to Austin to see their daughter and grandkids...

Emilie, Maddie, Vincent

Can you guess the year?
1943
Vannie and Dave were heading to a 1940's High Tea.
Lots of fun to dress up and go out on the town.

When the weather is pretty, our NTAC yoga guru instructs the "yogi's"
right outside her villa.

ARRIVED AUSTIN

Maddie could hardly wait to show V and D the HEB Grocery Store right next to Vincent's middle school.  It has multiple floors and escalators that will carry your buggy from one floor to the next.  Incredible!!!

Check this out...Maddie created this fabulous art for me.
Well, it really was for Vannie and T-Pop, but look how much it brightens up my interior.

Aladdin
Performed by the 5th graders at Zilker Elementary
Maddie is on stage right in the middle...with the red pants on.
Vannie loved everything about this.
It brought back so many memories when her students performed Shakespeare plays in the cafeteria at Broadmoor Elementary in Lafayette, LA.

A Star is Born!!!

Poetry Readings

Zilker Elementary

Maddie reading one of her original poems...I, Zilker

Don't you just love this...I know I do!!!

Maddie and her friends over for a visit...Lone Star RV Park.

...and a swim!!!

...Poor Prince...had to stay at home.

Don't get to sad for him...

Vannie says he gets plenty of attention.

Play Ball

Snow cones, Peanuts, Cotton candy, slushies, and dill pickles

Dave said there is a bunch of great reasons to go to see Vincent play ball.

I just named a few.

Vincent was on the mound during this game.

Now, he is ready to knock it out of the park.

Fiesta Texas/6 Flags/San Antonio

Vannie, Emilie, Maddie, Audra, Vincent, Max

Vannie said it was a beautiful day.

She just enjoyed walking around people-watching and eating popcorn.

Emilie and the girls

Vannie and Dave enjoyed popping into a South by Southwest venue

to see and hear Carolina perform.  Carolina was one of Vannie's former students.

Lunch with Bob and Melba Thomas

Old friends from Lafayette, LA...now living in Austin.

Joan and Harvey Bollich
Enjoyed a wonderful shrimp etouffee prepared by Joan
Vannie taught school with Joan a "few" years back.
J and H live in Cedar Park...north of Austin.

Sweet Erica
V and D met Erica during one of their first trips to Austin in Gypsy.
They met at Anytime Fitness and have remained good friends.

Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library

Vannie said it is always fun to visit a presidential Library.

This one was especially nice, because it is located on the University of Texas campus.

Walking around the campus was a treat.

...and it's Easter Sunday...
Oak Hill United Methodist Church
...and there's Dave front and center in the choir...
He loves it so much!!!

His people came to cheer him on.

Oak Hill had an egg hunt.

...and the bunny came to Maddie and Vincent's backyard, also.
That bunny gets around.

Never too old to enjoy an egg hun!!!

Since Vannie and Dave would not be in town for Maddie and Vincent' birthdays,
a early celebration was in order.
Ice Cream Cake from D'Lites Ice Cream Parlor
Dave said everyone was licking their lips.

The girls and Prince...

Since I'm writing this story...

I need a glamour shot of me.

There I am sittin' pretty in my spot at the Lone Star RV Park in South Austin on I35.
