AFTER PARIS TO NEW MEXICO (...and everything in between)

By:
Gypsy Rhapsody

Goodness, Goodness, Goodness...
so much to tell.
I thought Vannie and Dave would have a wee bit
of a let-down after Paris, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
They have been on the road (again) and trying to see everyone
before heading to New Mexico for the summer.

I'll just show you some pics and give you a little
rundown of their adventures.

First off the bat was grandson's Vincent's 6th birthday.
V and D left me in Hillsboro and headed south to Austin for a few days
to celebrate.  Great party with all his friends.

Next came Mother's Day...
This time they headed east to North Louisiana...
First stop Bernice, Vannie's hometown..
  Visited with niece, Amy...
Stopped by to check on the "Madge Tree".
Madge is Vannie's mom that passed away in 2008,
and this tree was planted in her memory in Bernice.

...Then on to Farmerville, La..Dave's hometown...
Enjoyed staying with Dave's mom, Pearl...96.
This is the two of them in front of the
First Methodist Church in Farmerville
on Mother's Day.

Then they headed south to Lafayette...
Another celebration...
Grandson, Cooper's birthday

V and D saw lots of friends in Lafayette.
This is their Paris buddies, Jan and Chester.
Jan had fixed their favorite Paris food...
pain au chocolat.
I think I see a little droop coming out of the side
of Dave's mouth.

Finally...back to me in Hillsboro, TX.
Do I look excited?
Well, I am...I love it when we are all three together again.
We are now headed west to Odessa, TX.
The weather has been so crazy up through Amarillo
(our usual route), Dave thought it would be best to
take a little different way.

Along our route...love seeing these windmils

Odessa, TX
Our friends Dot and Dan Jowers live here,
and we knew we had found their house when we
saw the LSU curb number.

Just a nice friendly place to be...we stayed here 2 days.

Dot plays in the church orchestra.
V said they never knew she played the trombone.

Dan had tickets to the local semi-pro baseball game.
V and D said they had not been to a baseball game
since the kids played T-ball.

Peanuts..Hot Dogs...Cokes

Headed north from Odessa and saw these guys.
...wishing we had one of our very own...

...On into New Mexico
...headed right down main street in Roswell.
Spooky

New Mexico Landscape
Love Love Love

Coronado State Park in Bernalillo, NM
Beautiful Place
Kind of windy, but I handled it just fine.

My view
Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande River

Tumbleweed
I know I'm out west when I see one of these.

Lunch with friend, Loretta
Notice Vannie's jacket...New Mexico sky
She actually purchased it in the London airport.
Vannie said that she was wondering why she
liked it so much...and when she got to
New Mexico, she knew why.

Headed north to Questa, NM.
Do you see that white spaceship kind of building
on the left?  That is the Santa Fe Opera.
It is a place to put on your bucket list.
V and D went to a couple of opera's there.
They said that even if you were not an opera fan,
it's worth it.

Oh my goodness...I'm in heaven.
Gloria Gonzalez's RV Park
Questa, NM

The next day after we arrived, Vannie and Dave went to work in Red River.

That first day it rained, snowed, and sleeted...
and the sun peeked out a litle.

Yes...she really works.
If she not in housekeeping, she works in the office.

The condos just had some new windows put in, so
Dave got to use his blind installing skills.

Always lots of wildlife around.
Mule Eared Deer

Canadian Geese
If you look real hard, you can see a little "puff"
to the left of the goose that is sitting down.
It's a baby goose...a gosling.
V said it was soooooo adorable.

Off at 5:00 pm...so off to Taos for dinner
El Camel...their favorite restaurant
Lentil/Quinoa Burgers
Havla for dessert
Vannie said to google "havla"...delish

V and D walked around the square in Taos after dinner.

Such a nice "glow"

This is the sight that greeted them on
Memorial Day as they entered Red River.
Dave said that it reminded them of the American flag.

From all of us
to all of the men who fought
and still fight for our freedom...

THANK YOU

PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN
