JUNE IS BUSTIN' OUT ALL OVER

By
Gypsy Rhapsody
(a 1976 Airstream that loves June in New Mexico)

June is bustin' out all over!
All over the meadow and the hill!
Buds're bustin' outa bushes
And the rompin' river pushes
Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill!

I'm not sure Rodgers and Hammerstein
was talking about New Mexico, but it fits.

We've been here about three weeks,
and it is just as glorious as the song.

Vannie had a great birthday week...
celebrating with cousins and friends.

Here's the birthday girl
getting excited about this
big black leather biker jacket.
The biker forgot it at the Caribel Condos,
and Vannie was working that day.
Of course, he called back and asked
for it to be mailed to him.
Fun for a little while.!!!

The Columbine Trail between Questa and Red River, NM
is a perfect example of "June bustin' out all over".
The sunshine peeking through the tree branches
makes a puzzle of sorts on the path.
Vannie said this trail is so
cool,
clean,
and comfortable.

The aspen leaves were twinkling.
They don't make a sound...
and, yet, they do.
The forest is funny that way.

..."buds are bustin' outa bushes"...

Sweet little fairy hats hanging on the vines
waiting for the fairies to
come by to pluck one for their next party.

The Red River rompin' and stompin' down the mountain.
"And the rompin' river pushes"

Sprinkles of dandelions makin' that old log feel new again...

Another great hike...around Eagle Rock Lake...
only about a block from me...

"June is bustin' out all over...
Y'ken can see it in the trees,
Y'ken can smell it in the breeze..".

"Look around, look around, look around."

Cousin Time
Jay and Kathryn Brady's house...Santa Fe, NM
You can see Jay enjoying his "porch time".

Such a cozy little place
Inviting to all you arrive...

Kathryn whisked V and D off to this wonderful museum just around the corner.
Museum of International Folk Art
"A Sweet Spot in Santa Fe"

Several great exhibits
This first one was sculptures made from
tiny little pieces of wood...glued together.
Fascinating!
V and D were reminded of a Lafayette, LA artist, Fred Daspit.
Fred was one of Dave's professors many moons ago at ULL.
He created many wonderful sculptures from tiny pieces of wood
after he retired from teaching.

The Flamenco Exhibit
Fun...Hot...Action...Colorful...Fiery

Dave enjoyed the old photographs and displays.

...and then there was a room with costumes...
Flamenco Vannie

The Toy Exhibit
Vannie said, "Unbelievable"...
Not to be missed if you are in Santa Fe...
There were large displays like this one...

\
...and then small little windows to look through to
discover tiny little creatures talking or having a party or discussing politics.
Dave said there were little scenes everywhere you turned.
Each told a different story.
A Child's Wonderland...
Hey, I think these 3 grownups enjoyed the heck of it, too.

The next morning Kathryn said, "Let's go hiking at Tent Rock."
And everybody said, "Amen".
Tent Rock is south of Santa Fe...took them about an hour to get there.

V, D, and K arrived very early.
First visitors on the scene.
Magical.!
V and D were so excited to see their
old friends, the Hoodoos.  They first met these
natural creatures in Bryce Canyon in Utah
back in October.

All had to "suck in"...big time...to
get through some of the passages on this trail.

Another reminder for V and D...
Antelope Canyon in Arizona...
Tent Rock is a slot canyon like Antelope.
Formed by water and sand years and years ago...

Silent...peaceful...Sacred...
These 3 adventurers felt as if they were on Holy Ground.
...and they were the only 3 experiencing this special place at this given time
during June 2017 at 8:00 am...
Chill bumps,!

Upon leaving the slot canyon and entering the LIGHT....

Slow and steady....
Higher and higher...

Made it...
"June is bustin' out all over"
Sing it, Dave...

Have to head back down and through the slot,
pass the Hoodoos, and back to the real world.
They did not meet any real people until on their way back.
An Amazing Adventure.!!!
Cousin's forever connected by the experience at Tent Rock.

\
Back to Questa/Red River...
Lafayette Friends, Scotty Rosatto and fam, treated us to
a birthday dinner at the Sundance Restaurant in Red River.
Lots of Laughs and Eats...

Rolled into to the Harris Compound at Sunset...
Ready for a good night's sleep so that they
can finish off the rest of June.

"Because it's June, June, June, June
Just because it's June, June June"
