ROUTE 66...BACKWARDS...

By
Minuet in G
(a 1979 Argosy made by Airstream that seems like she is going around in circles)

Won't you get hip to this timely tip
When you make that California trip?
Get your kicks on Route 66.

California
Arizona
Nevada
New Mexico
Texas

Goodness Gracious
Just point me in a direction...
and I'll follow.

Vannie and Dave picked me up at the storage spot in El Centro, CA.
I said "good-bye" to my new friend, Mr. Green Mayflower,
and we handed east...or was it west...or maybe north or south.
Anyway, I left this spot.

V and D had a great visit in San Diego with
Vannie's first cousin, George Johnston, Jr.
and his wife, Lynn.  George is the grandson of Eula Johnston.
Eula was Vannie's mom's oldest sister.
Las Vegas was the next destination.

Needles, CA
Route 66

Mojave Desert

Lots of sand, Folks
I had sand in all the wrong places.
If you get my drift...🤣

Las Vegas, NV
Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort
IBT
(International Board of Trustees)
Mid-winter meeting for the Airstream Club

All my friends...
Airstreams on my left and on my right...
But I was, my far, the cutest one.!!!
People magnet, for sure.!!!

Here we go, Folks...
Las Vegas, at her finest.

First night's adventure
Dinner and a Show
The Rat Pack
Frank, Sammy, and Dean
Dave said these guys had it down pat.

The 3 Amigos
Andy...first vice president
Vicki...secretary
Mona...president
All from NTAC
North Texas Airstream Community in Hillsboro, TX
Pretty impressive, to say the least...
Vannie said IBT was so interesting.
A great deal of business to cover and rules to adjust, but
lots of fun in-between.

Las Vegas Show
Human Nature
V and D have a Christmas CD by this group,
and love them.  What a treat for them to see them in-person.!!!

Fun walking in the Venetian
waiting for the show to begin...

Just like on the streets of Venice...

Night time Beauty

Vegas Everywhere

On the last night of IBT, the Airstreamers were
blessed with a performance by a wonderful magician.
Ropes...cards...locks...he was a pro...
AMAZING...

Our breakfast food truck at the Oasis...
Yummy burritos and juice.

Red Rock Canyon
Nevada's Mojave Desert
Red sandstone peaks
Native American petroglyphs

13 mile scenic drive

Great place to picnic, hike, walk, climb, or just drive.

After leaving Las Vegas, V and D headed by Hoover Dam and Lake Meade...

The roads were high and curvy...
I was getting a little sea sick...
Well, I guess it was car sick...
Nope, that's not it, either...
Trailer Sick...That's it.

Flagstaff, AZ
A might chilly, but happy to get off those curvy roads.
The cool air made me relax and enjoy the ride.

Continental Divide
7275 feet

Made it to Albuquerque, NM
Enchanted Trails RV
I stayed here while Vannie and Dave
headed to their friend, Loretta's.
Gypsy has stayed here before, but it was my first time.
Check out that Airstream by that tree.
Yep...she has flowers.
I knew right away that I was going to like this place.

Sandia Mountains
Albuquerque, NM

Home of our great friend, Loretta...

Feels like home...
And even more so when Vannie put the pot of gumbo on to cook.
Now it smells like home...

Right before the guests arrived, the electricity when off.
Out came the candles.
Vannie said that she was lovin' it...
Candle light makes great pictures.
It was not out for long..

I guess these friends could smell the gumbo on the stove.
Teresa, Vera, Loretta, Helen, Judy, Vannie, Carmen

                                                                   Tony, Vince, Dave

Who told the joke?  Must have been a good one.

It was a full table.
Everyone ate till they were stuffed.

Time to leave Enchanted Trails
 and all our great friends
in Albuquerque.
I love this place.
Beautiful blue sky...perfect traveling weather.

Next Stop...Bottomless Lake State Park...Roswell, NM

Woke up to a blanket of snow.
Vannie couldn't stand it...She had to get out it in.

Not that much...but was pretty.

One down the road...Lake Colorado City State Park
Colorado City, TX
Did you hear me...TEXAS.!!!!

Final Stop...Hillsboro, TX
NTAC
Hallelujah.!!!
And what do you know...
We were not here but 2 days,
and we woke up to SNOW.
Help...Will winter EVER be over???

What a TRIP????
Loved every single minute, but very glad to be home...
