SEDONA AND GRAND CANYON

By
Gypsy Rhapsody
(a 1977 Airstream left behind)

OK, folks, I'm still in Albuquerque
having my toes and nails done.
Well, maybe not that, but definitely,
getting some TLC.
My people have gone on an excursion
with their friends, Jan and Chester Baudoin.
I finally heard from them today.
Man, they have been hitting the road
seeing all kinds of wonderful things.

These pics are from some gorgeous places
in Arizona...Sedona and Grand Canyon.

Vannie's text...
"Hi, Gypsy, I sure hope you are
getting some royal treatment.
We have been seeing so many beautiful places.
The pictures really don't do these places justice,
but I think you will "get the picture."

SEDONA

What a way to start off this adventure...
We were at the Coffee Pot Restaurant in Sedona.

Such beautiful formations...and the colors...wow.!!!

Church of the Holy Cross
Built right in the side of the mountain...

Thunder Mountain
Notice the coffee pot on the far right...

Met up with my high school classmate...Danny Otts
Danny lives in Sedona and was a great tour guide.

Chester, Jan, Me, Dave

Danny, Me, Dave
The Union Parish Trio

We ended up hearing an awesome native flute player
on our last night in Sedona.
Spell-binding.!!!

GRAND CANYON

Gypsy, we rode a train from Williams, AZ
to the Grand Canyon.  Don't you just love this pic of Dave...
One of my fave's.!!!
All aboard.!!!

The Grand Canyon is truly "GRAND".

I had to keep yelling at Dave...
"Don't get to close to the edge."

It helps when you have something to hold on to.

We attended services at the only Catholic church
in any of the Natural Parks...El Christo Rey Chapel.

One of my favorite's

Early morning

Dave and I did go on a mini hike down into the canyon.
Probably about an hour round trip...
Felt very accomplished...
I was hugging the wall on one side,
and holding on to Dave on the other.

The Desert View Watchtower is our last stop in the Grand Canyon
on the south rim.  It is an outstanding architectural project
completed in 1932.  Mary Colter was the architect...which was
a wonder within itself...a woman in a field completely dominated by men.
The tower is 70 feet high.
It represents an ancient Pueblo Peoples watchtower.

This is looking up into the ceiling of the watchtower.

The drawings on the walls were reproduced by Fred Greer.
The rock art paintings are copies of now-destroyed petroglyphes from Abo, NM.

Gazing out one of the windows can take your breathe away.

What a fitting way to end our day at the Grand Canyon...
It was and is a place to praise God in the "grandest" of ways.

Be sure to keep your phone charged, Gypsy.
I'll be sending more of our adventures soon.
