FLORIDA ADVENTURE...POST 5

  By

Where in the Heck is Chokoloskee?
One of our Airstream buddies used to head up a
caravan with this title....so Vannie and Dave had
to find out where in the heck was this place.
They analyzed the Florida state map and pinpointed the place.
They were going to have to go around the
top of the Everglades National Park along highway 41,
the Tamiami Trail or better known as "Alligator Ally".

Vannie is smiling while she is drinking her coffee.
She is listening as Dave explains their adventure for the day.
She is a little leary, but knows Dave is a very good map reader and navigator,
sooo let's go.

They pass by some of those nurseries that they passed coming into the park.
This particular plant is a cactus that is being trained to look like a palm tree.
Amazing.!!!

Headed down Tamiami Trail...

Really a cool little spot off the west coast of South Florida

Arrived in Chokoloskee...It is just south of Naples, FL.
It is right at the edge of the Everglades National Park.
Bougainvilleas abound...pink ones...

yellow ones...

beautiful boat marina

They stopped at a little roadside shop.
Vannie said that Dave had a fit over the art of
"Anne Thing Goes"...
This peace plaque is made from found objects.
When I saw it, I loved it, too....
especially since I am somewhat a "found" object myself.

One the way back down Tamiami Trail, this mother manatee
and her baby showed up.  Vannie said that the baby was
so adorable....and the mother was so protective.

A Mangrove island forming in the canal...

On the way home...
Such a "Florida Scene"

I was very glad to see them.
Mosquitoes were out for a blood-sucking night...
but Vannie said..."No, Way, you little buggers."
She sprayed herself down and put on a bunch of clothes
and cooked supper outside on the grill.
 SWEET.!!!!

More Later...
