FLORIDA ADVENTURE...POST 8

By
Gypsy Rhapsody

My fans are knocking at my door.
"What's up, Gypsy?  We are ready for the next blog."
I've been so relaxed...just couldn't get off the pot and write.

Melbourne, Florida
Land Yacht Harbor RV Park

I love this place.  Check out this picture.
Surrounded by blue skies and palm trees,
...and other Airstreams...my kind of people...
Lots of  "eye-candy"...never to old to look.!!!
Check out that buffed-up hunk right across the street from me...LOL

As soon as we got all settled in...
Vannie and Dave broke the news to me...
They were going on a cruise.
A CRUISE
I said..."Head on out, kids...I'm relaxing right here."
I sure wasn't moving my big self anywhere.
I really love this place.
Bon Voyage
V and D ship sailed out of Miami on
Carnival Fantasy...That is one big boat.
I think I just might could fit...but Vannie said
the entrance was a little tricky for a big girl like me.

The Bahamas.
3 days of fun, food, and fantasy...

Check out that water slide at the top...more about this later.
My stomach does a flip-flop just looking at it.
Is that actually going out over the ocean?

Oh my goodness...are they a couple of cheapskates or what????
Room on the lowest deck...fake window...bunk beds...
Dave said it was perfect...They loved it.
Nice and Cozy
Hey, Folks...V and D are used to cozy.

Room service was a hot item...
Breakfast every morning and sometimes lunch...in the room.
Is that relaxing...or what???
Some other things that made their cruise a fun "fantasy"
(besides just the food)...

...Walking the deck...

...Enjoying the art...

...Trying out the giant chess board...

...People watching...
(Vannie said it was nice and quite on the deck before 11:00 am...
then the sun worshipers showed up...drinking, laughing, eating,
having contests (as in hairiest chest contest), line dancing...)

...going down the "twister"...
(Yep, Vannie did it...she said the scariest part was climbing up the stairs
and waiting in line to go down...with all the little kids)

...eating those delicious cruise cheese burgers.

Docked in Nassau
They woke up to the blue waters of the Bahamas,
after cruising all night.
Dave had uploaded a walking tour of Nassau Village.
They headed out to discover the sights and sounds of island life.

What a colorful place.
Looks like a paint store explored.
Pink, blue, green, yellow, orange..

A government building...
Pepto Bismol Pink
Maybe that would jazz things up in Washington...
paint the White House pink...
I know a lot of folks up there drink plenty of Pepto Bismol.

Dave said this bench looked like a bunch old light-up TV lamps.

Remembers these from the 50's and 60's.
When V and D were kids each of their families (not together)
would vacation at the beach...Pensacola or Panama City, FL.
This shell TV light was a hot item.

Statue of Queen Victoria
Erected in 1905
She was held in high esteem by the island people.
Senate building in the background

Peek-a-boo
OMG...those bougainvilleas are magnificent.
That's a Presbyterian church on the right.

V and D's cruise ship is playing peek-a-boo, too.
They had walked up to a high point on the island.

The Library...built in 1798.
It was originally built as a prison.
Vannie said it was soooo cramped inside.
Not a neatly arranged library, for sure.
It needed a good cleaning out.

What's black and white and read all over?
Old joke...but fits this pic.

An art sculpture...Tooth and Sail...

Oh No...the strangler fig has Dave by the throat.
I laughed my head off when I saw this pic.
This guy needs to be on stage...and there is one leaving in 10 minutes.

The British Colonial Hotel
Dave's dad, Caldwell, was in the Airforce during WWII.
He was a tail gunner for a B26.
His crew landed in Windsor Field in Nassau, Bahamas because of
a fuel leak on their way to Sardinia, Italy. It was July 3, 1944.
The crew were quartered at this hotel.
They dined royally in the almost empty dining room with
lots of waiters in white jackets.

Nice place...to say the least.

Had drinks and fries on the patio

Now, that is a relaxed man.
The British Colonial experience proved to be a great tribute to Dave's dad.
...another bucket list item checked off...

They were back on the ship still enjoying the beautiful blue waters of the Bahamas.

Glam Time
Dressing for dinner was one of Vannie's fave parts.

...and one of her fave meals was the lobster...

...and the desserts.

A perfect ending to a cruise...

V and D are a little more fat,

a little more relaxed,

and a little more full of "fantasy".
